What does the future hold for telemedicine

Plenty! Telemedicine is not new. It’s been around for years. But the telemedicine that is practiced today is vastly different from what it was a few years ago and that tells us that the future of this type of care delivery is unlimited. Seeing chronically ill patients who are being cared for by a family member at home is already occurring, and growing. And anyone who knows TapestryHealth can tell you, our ability to use sophisticated remote delivery for evaluation and treatment of nursing home patients is well documented in terms of lives saved and hospitalizations avoided. In this time of Covid-19, we have used telemedicine to effectively slow the spread of Covid and other infectious diseases. Soon you will see doctors practicing telemedicine from their own offices. Having a sick, vulnerable patient leave home to travel to their doctor’s office is inherently risky on several levels. But through telemedicine, your own doctor will be able to see you with the same effectiveness as seeing in you in their office. Nursing home care, hospital care, home care, office visits and more are all part of the growing future of telemedicine.
